Purpose of Position:

This position will assist the Associate Director of Finance in managing daily, monthly, and annual deadlines, and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger maintenance, grant reporting, financial reporting, and year-end audit preparation. Incumbent will perform general accounting and administrative functions related to local, state, and federal grants, with a high focus on subrecipient grant monitoring. Position will also perform professional accounting activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring knowledge and application of accounting principles, practices, and techniques in accordance with GAAP.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Oversight in processes to track, review, analyze and reconcile all grant-related activities to financials and other related reports.
  2. Review and approve subrecipient grant budgets, invoices, and financial reports.
  3. Review of all accounts payable, payroll, and revenue activity with regards to project-related activities.
  4. Collaborate with department team members to compile grant budgets.
  5. Prepare periodic grant financial reports.
  6. Meet with department team members regularly to provide updates on grant financial activity.
  7. Provide updates for monthly payroll allocation entries related to grant activities.
  8. Prepare invoices and reports to funders in accordance with funder specifications and ensure compliance with all agreements.
  9. Reconciliation of grant related balance sheet accounts.
  10. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
  11. Assist with month-end and year-end closing process.
  12. Assist with month-end and year-end financial support preparation and reconciliation.
  13. Assist the Finance team with month end analysis and other ad hoc projects as assigned.
  14. Serve as the backup for accounts payable.

Skills and Abilities Required:
  1. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  2. Solid time management, problem solving and organizational skills.
  3. Strong interpersonal and professional ability when engaging with vendors and partners.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based software and applications.
  6. Manage multiple projects, plan strategically, and adapt to frequent change in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Implement, organize, and evaluate programs and projects.
  8. Maintain a helpful attitude and collaborate with multi-departmental teams.

Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  2. Minimum two years of accounting experience.
  3. Experience with HRSA or other federal grant programs is highly desirable.
  4. Experience with community health centers, member-driven associations or non-profit organizations is also preferred.

Association Expectation:

Due to network security and hybrid work this position requires the employee to have a cell phone with a data plan and home internet service, both are reimbursed at a set rate each month. All hires are required to maintain residence in California. This is a hybrid position with employees coming into the office in downtown Sacramento.

Compensation: $76,583 -$81,088
